Student Groups

The student groups are the gradute groups of Katif Israeli's Project. The groups are very socialy active and have a major part in leading “Landmarkes” movement.

The intensive agricultural work and joint study session in Katif Israeli project, provide an opportunity for the creation of strong social connections between the students. The “Landmarks” movement encourages, coaches and escorts the groups in their diverse social activism with their return to the campuses from Katif Israeli project.

Moreover, from the understanding that quality study sessions can generate significant social actions, our movement maintains pluralistic learning group in the different campuses, where core issues of the Israeli society are being discussed in. As for today, Katif Israeli’s graduate groups in Tel-Hai, Haifa, Jerusalem and Beer-Sheva are promoting significant and sustainable social projects. Two of them, are already built and operating:

“The Barn – a cooperative in Ziv” is a part of a growing movement of small cooperative supermarkets, which are owned by their customers. This movement is rapidly growing all across Israel, and has also reached the Katif Israeli graduate group in Haifa. Alongside a small organic vegetable cooperative store In ‘Hadar’ neighborhood, the Haifa group is currently promoting an ambitious initiative in ‘Ziv’ neighborhood - a cooperative store that aspires to eventually be the only place it’s members will do their shopping in. Their goal, is to sustain this cooperative store without any dependence on an external capital or factor, while preserving low prices and a communal atmosphere.

“A spring in the desert” is a project founded by the Katif Israeli’s graduate group of Beer-Sheva. It’s goal, is to form meaningful social connections between students from the Bedouin sector and students from the jewish sector, in order to create an honest dialog between them. In the project, jewish students help bedouin students in their studies at the pre-academic program, while also granting them with important academic tools, to help them integrate and succeed in the academic world. Other than that, the project also maintains joint study sessions about the Bedouin culture and language, as well as discussions on major issues of Israeli society.
